Our Practice Manager, Patrick, joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in December 2016. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with a major in Animal Science. He continued his training in Veterinary Technology at LaGuardia Community College in New York City. He also attended the New York School of Grooming and received his license as a Certified Dog Groomer. Patrick has extensive experience working in the animal medical field. He began as a Veterinary Assistant at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in New York City and then became the Office Manager at a small animal hospital in Harlem. He then worked as a Clinic Supervisor at a multi-location practice in the Tribeca/SoHo area. He went on to become the Technician Supervisor and Purchasing Manager at a large full-service animal hospital in New York City. Then he worked as the Hospital Manager of a practice on the Upper East Side.
Patrick’s knowledge of veterinary medicine and hospital management combined with his concern and compassion for animals and their owners makes him a valuable asset to the Abingdon Square Veterinary team.
Mariko is a Licensed Veterinary Nurse. She has been passionate about taking care of animals since she was young. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from Mercy College. After completing externships at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan and the ASPCA, she joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in February 2014. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and their dog, Elsa.
Sheena joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in September 2015 as a Licensed Veterinary Nurse. She attended Veterinary Technical Institute of Pittsburgh and graduated with honors, earning her Associate’s Degree in Specialized Veterinary Technology in 2004. After graduation, she participated in a year-long internship program at The Animal Medical Center, and then worked in a small animal hospital thereafter. Sheena loves that she has had the opportunity to combine her love of science, medicine, and animals into a wonderful, decade-long career.
Outside of the animal hospital, Sheena enjoys working on photography; she will be earning an Associate’s Degree in Photography from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in January 2016. Sheena recently earned her purple belt in Tae Kwon Do; she hopes to earn her black belt by 2017. Sheena is a native New Yorker, currently living in Queens with her husband and their two kitty cats Roxi and Daniel S. Catnip.
Lois joined the Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic team in March 2016 as a Client Service Specialist. After living in southern California for almost 2 decades, Lois moved back to her native New York City with her rescue dog, Romeo. After graduating top in her class at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Lois moved to California to pursue her desire of preparing world class food in the San Diego area. During her time away from the kitchen, Lois worked as a positive reinforcement dog trainer for 10 years, using modern and safe techniques as well as clicker training. Lois is the proud developer and leader of our puppy socialization class!
Victoria joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in November 2016 as a Veterinary Assistant. After studying psychology and neuroscience as an undergraduate, her attention and ambition has turned to veterinary medicine. She is very fond of cooking, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and her two truly excellent cats: Buggles and Skimbleshanks.
Mary joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in January 2017 as a Client Service Specialist. She grew up in San Diego with 5 dogs, 2 cats, several guinea pigs, and countless fish. She is a classically trained ballet dancer who loves food and history books. Mary now lives in Brooklyn with her sister and their magical Pomeranian named Puck.
Helene joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in July 2017 as a Veterinary Assistant. She is currently working toward a degree in Veterinary Technology at Penn Foster College to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Helene was born and raised in the Bronx and has owned dogs as well as hamsters, gerbils, cats, fish, and turtles. She lives with her Shih Tzu, Trixie, and enjoys lap swimming and hunting for ‘The Little Mermaid’ collectibles.
Sarah joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in July 2015 as a Client Service Specialist. She received her degree in Environmental Studies from Virginia Wesleyan College and is currently enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for their two-year acting conservatory. Sarah has always been passionate about animal welfare and loves being a part of the Abingdon Square family. She resides in Brooklyn with her fiancé and their gregarious kitty, Nebula.
Amber joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in July 2017 as a Kennel/Technician Assistant. She has always been interested in working in the veterinary field and is currently enrolled in the Penn Foster program to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Amber grew up in Harlem around lots of furry, scaly, and feathery pets. She currently lives in the Bronx with her boyfriend and their 2 dogs, Cyrus and Shadow. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her fur babies and playing video games. She also likes to teach herself songs on the piano and is thinking about taking classes to improve her piano skills.
Emma joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in November 2017 as a Client Service Specialist. She is originally from west Texas, where her parents, 4 cats, and 2 dogs still reside. She is a classically trained ballet dancer and is currently working toward a degree as a radiology technician. In her free time, Emma enjoys experiencing the diverse food options New York City has to offer. Emma lives in Washington Heights with their 2 fur babies, Domino and Little Foot.
Gina joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in January 2018 as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Gina was born and raised in Colombia. She came to New York in 2003 and studied English for 6 months. She then obtained an Associate’s Degree in Electromechanical Technology from New York City College of Technology. After realizing that her true calling in life is to help animals, she went back to school and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology from LaGuardia Community College in New York City in 2017. In her free time, Gina enjoys crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, and playing the guitar. She lives in Ridgewood, Queens with her partner and their short-legged puppy, Abigator the Corginator.
Sarah B joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in February 2018 as a Kennel/Technician Assistant. Sarah grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Western Michigan University. In 2002, she moved to New York City and worked as a hair colorist for over a decade. She moved to Austin, Texas for several years and decided on a career change. Sarah had always loved animals, so she decided to work in a animal hospital instead of a salon; she loved it! After moving back to New York City, she decided to continue working in the veterinary field and could not be happier! Sarah and her fiancé, Zane, reside on the Upper West Side with their 2 English Bulldogs, Lola and Chloe.
Jenny joined Abingdon Square Veterinary Clinic in February 2018 as a Veterinary Assistant. She started working in the veterinary field in 2011. She is passionate about working with animals and helping them live happy and healthy lives. Jenny plans to attend school in New York to become a Licensed Veterinary Nurse. Jenny was born and raised in Texas. She and her husband are excited to live in and experience Manhattan! In her spare time, Jenny enjoys working on art projects, watching movies, reading, cooking, and snuggling with their orange tabby cat, Thelonious.
